Rwandan journalist Robert Mugabe has been summoned by the police every day for a week.
The police confirmed that it was interrogating him, but without specifying any possible charges against him.
This freelance journalist runs Great Lakes Voices, a blog that regularly discusses sensitive issues.
These days, the journalist Robert Mugabe is little present on the social networks. He spent his days at the Criminal Investigation Department in Kigali. He has been questioned for a week for reasons that have not been formally specified.
On Wednesday, on his Twitter account, Robert Mugabe said he was suspected of inciting the uprising and disturbing public order. On Tuesday, the journalist referred to two other articles of the Penal Code, one relating to treason and the other to violation of state secrecy.
The executive director of the Rwandan Association of Journalists, Gonzaga Muganwa, expressed concern about this long interrogation.
“We do not know in detail what he is accused of, but he believes that it is related to articles he published and sources he contacted. Of course, we are deeply concerned. We hope that no charges will be laid against him, “He said.
Robert Mugabe reported that he had been subjected to three attacks in October by men in civilian clothes, some as “security agents” of the State.
The journalist said he feared for his safety and that of his sources of information.
